Facilities Technician
The Facilities Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of facilities at Camp Greystone. Responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and conducting repairs as needed, the Facilities Technician contributes directly to the overall safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the camp environment.
With a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to maintenance, the ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set that could encompass plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman tasks. Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with the Maintenance team to address concerns promptly and efficiently. The Facilities Technician embodies Greystone’s values and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment for campers, staff, and visitors.
Normal working hours for the Maintenance team during the offseason are M-Th 7:00AM-4:30PM and Friday from 7:00AM-11:00AM. Summer hours are from 7:00AM-3:30PM M-F with some half days onsite on Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
- Maintain and repair plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems
- Oversee and participate in general landscaping upkeep, such as mowing, trimming hedges, and collecting debris
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
- Manage inventory and purchase materials and supplies for maintenance projects
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proficiency and specialization in at least one of the following: plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, landscaping (including seeding and herbicide application)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with preventative maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards related to maintenance
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and often unpredictable environment
